There are many reasons why you should aspire to a position of leadership but the most important reason why, is that it is a vital pathway achieving to financial independence.
According to Fortune Magazine 10% of all self-made millionaires in the United States have achieved their wealth as a direct result of the experiences they received from working for other organizations; they were extremely good followers before them become good leaders.
They became very good at their work and developed their leadership qualities within the context of the requirements of the organization they worked for. And in return were eventually paid very well. They were paid high salaries because they were worth it.
To take your path towards leadership you need to be intensely result oriented, always looking for faster, better and more efficient ways of getting the results upon which the success of your company depends on. Use what is called the “niche strategy.” This means you become excellent at the job you’re doing so that you can work yourself into vital positions in the company; positions that have a major impact on the cash flow and success of the organization.
You need to continually work on yourself to upgrade your skills and your ability to contribute, because your earning capacity and your ability to get results for your organization is the most important investment you can ever make. If you want to rise to the top of your organization the starting point is to develop a vision of the wonderful life and career that you can have.
So set big goals and high standards for yourself. Make detailed plans of action to accomplish them. Then, when you’ve done it for yourself, turn to your organization and begin to think in terms of the great things your company can accomplish and the areas where you can help your company achieve its goals. Look around the company you work for and find opportunities to accept responsibility and take charge of getting important results like a leader.
Volunteer for assignments that are important to your boss, that others are reluctant to take on. Be willing to risk your career for an opportunity to perform in an exemplary fashion. This is why you need to develop great intensity and conviction in everything you do. You need to have a very strong belief in yourself and in your ability to get the job done.
In addition you need to be extremely loyal to your company and your boss. And this combination of loyalty to the organization and to it’s objectives combined with intensity of purpose will enable you to push through resistance and overcome obstacles that would tend to stop the average person.
You become develop leadership qualities and leadership opportunities in direct proportion to your willingness and ability to accept responsibility and achieve outstanding results. The more and better results you take responsibility for the more you are going to accomplish and the more opportunities you are going to have to perform at an even higher level.
By developing leadership qualities in the organization you work for it will open up an abundance of opportunities for you to become financially independence in the future.
